About Me

JenThe owner and cake artist of Jenuine Cakes, Jen Hawthorne, started making cakes for her own parties and as gifts for friends when she quickly fell in love with the magic of cake design! Now she makes cakes, cake pops, cupcakes, etc. for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, showers, corporate events, holiday gatherings, and so much more!

Jen has a Bachelor of Design degree in Interior Design from the University of Florida. She spent four years practicing commercial Interior Design at two top Atlanta Architecture and Interior Design firms. She then spent four years as a Senior Events Coordinator at one of Atlanta’s premier wedding and special event venues, Cator Woolford Gardens at the Frazer Center. To say she has a knack for all things design and event planning is an understatement!

How it all Began:

“In 2010, I threw an 80s theme party for my birthday (I’m an 80’s baby, what can I say?) and really wanted my cakes to match the theme! I researched how to make fondant from scratch (thanks, YouTube!) and after hours of an ooey gooey mess and food coloring all over the kitchen…the rest is history. I was hooked! The Rubik’s Cube and Ms. Pacman cakes are what would eventually change my life! They helped me realize how designing cakes combines my passion for art, design, event planning, and putting a smile on other’s faces!”

In her spare time, Jen loves to travel, plan events, scrapbook, spend time on Lake Burton, visit with family and friends, and enjoys the occasional margarita girls’ night! In July 2015, Jen and her husband, Dane, welcomed a beautiful baby girl into this world. Madison (“Maddie”) and her squishy cheeks are of course now also one of Jen’s favorite passions and she can’t wait for her to follow in mommy’s footsteps and be a cake designer someday too!
